The two main types of moving boxes that are available at most moving and storage supply outlets are made out of cardboard and plastic, respectively. Cardboard Boxes
Cardboard boxes are the most common type of moving box used for either moving or storage purposes. Furthermore, cardboard boxes are susceptible to moisture damage, which makes them poor choices for long term storage or when you are moving in inclement weather.
Plastic Boxes
Plastic boxes, on the other hand, provide a rigid storage solution for your items. Their durability means that you can stack them on top of each other without worrying about damaging what's inside, allowing you to make more efficient use of the space in your storage unit or moving truck. They are completely moisture proof, which can help protect fragile items from developing mold or water damage.
However, plastic boxes represent an additional cost when compared to cardboard boxes, and they do not have the same variety of styles to fit all of your items perfectly. Furthermore, care must be taken when using plastic boxes, as their moisture-proof construction also means that they can trap moisture within them – so you'll need to make sure that all of your clothes and other items are completely dry before they are packed away to prevent moisture damage from occurring.
